What does it cost to have your YouTube channel run? Published ranges, our own prices, and what you actually get.
Having a YouTube channel run costs anything from a few hundred dollars for a one-off setup to tens of thousands a month for a full media team. The price depends less on the number of videos than on who makes the decisions. Below: four routes, the published range for each, our own prices stated exactly, and the cost that never shows up on an invoice: your own time.
Why the ranges are so wide
Search for the price of YouTube channel management and you get ranges from five dollars an hour to five figures a month. Both are real. They describe different jobs that share a name.
Some managers upload what you send them and write the titles. Others decide what you film, write the scripts, edit, publish and report on which videos brought in clients. The second job is a different service, and it is priced like one.
Four routes, and what each one costs
The ranges below are published prices, not our estimates. Upwork lists typical project costs on its hiring page for YouTube channel managers (October 2026). OverseerOS, a YouTube agency, publishes planning ranges in its 2026 pricing guide and says itself that they are not universal market rates.
| Route | What you get | Published range | Where it breaks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marketplace freelancer | Uploads, titles, a calendar, sometimes thumbnails | Upwork: monthly channel management $800 to $3,500. Hourly profiles from $5 an hour | You still decide what to film. Nobody owns the result |
| One-off audit and optimisation | A review of the channel, plus fixes to titles, descriptions and playlists | Upwork: $500 to $2,500 per project. OverseerOS: $500 to $2,000 for a serious agency audit | Fixes the shop window, not the content |
| Agency retainer | Strategy, scripts, editing, thumbnails, publishing, reporting | OverseerOS: $3,000 to $12,000 a month for a serious agency, $12,000 to $50,000 and up at the premium end | Great if they research your field. Expensive if you get a template |
| Done-with-you | The agency work, with you as the face and the source | Ours: from the low four figures a month, month to month | Needs you on camera once a month. That part cannot be handed off |
Doing it yourself is the fifth route. It costs no money and the most time, which brings us to the cost nobody puts on an invoice.
Our own prices, stated exactly
Most agency pages ask you to book a call before you see a number. We would rather you can decide in one read whether that call is worth your time.
- Channel audit and optimisation: 950 euro, one-off. Your channel and your twenty best videos in order within five working days: titles, descriptions, playlists, end screens, pinned comments and chapters. Channel plan included, money back if it is not good, and credited in full if you continue with us.
- Channel plan only: 495 euro. The analysis of your channel and twelve videos for the next twelve weeks, without the implementation.
- Done-with-you retainer: from the low four figures a month. Research, shoots, editing, uploads, Shorts and a monthly read on which videos bring in inquiries. Month to month, no lock-in, and the channel and every file stay yours.
The audit is on the channel audit page, where you can also pay directly. The retainer starts with a call, because the price depends on how many videos and Shorts a month make sense for you.
The cost that is not on the invoice
Every route has a second price: the hours that stay with you. Doing it all yourself means research, scripting, filming, editing, a title, a thumbnail and the upload for every single video. In our experience that is most of a working day per long video, every week, next to running a company.
A marketplace freelancer takes the upload and the editing off your plate, but the decisions stay with you: what to film, what to call it, whether it worked. Done-with-you moves the decisions to the team and leaves you with a shoot day a month and short checks on scripts and final edits.
For a founder or an expert, those hours are usually the most expensive line in the whole calculation. They just never show up on the invoice.
Five questions to ask before you pay anyone
- Who decides what gets filmed, by name? If the answer is a team or a process, ask again.
- What do you measure? Views are easy to report. Inquiries and booked calls are what you are paying for.
- Who owns the channel, the files and the logins? It should be you, without exceptions.
- What is the notice period? A long minimum term before anyone knows whether it works is a warning sign.
- Can I see a channel you run, with a start date and the starting numbers? Growth without a starting point says nothing.
Ask us the same five. Our answers are on this page and on how we work.
Which route fits you
- You already publish, but the channel is a mess. A one-off audit and optimisation. It is the cheapest fix with the most direct effect.
- You know your field but have no time to run a channel. Done-with-you. You stay the face and the source, the team runs the rest.
- You only need someone to press upload. A marketplace freelancer is fine, and cheaper than us.
- You have no channel yet. Start with positioning and research before you pay anyone to edit. How we build channels from zero.
